I’m testing out some new fabric that I have painted. Took a few attempts to get right, but I may be nearly there. This is the beginning of a process which will hopefully result in some new little colourful dresses.
From this to this.
Been a bit busy.
So I have been a little bit busy pottering about in the studio, getting down and dirty with my dyes and painting some silk.
I’ve started working with a new silk this time. A slightly heavier habotai. Making the colours a little more refined, still bright but maybe more subtle as they are coming from the same shade. The blues seem to blend and bleed into each other beautifully.
a little trip to amsterdam.
I once did a short project based on this wonderful city during my second year of studying. However I can’t help but think that the city has plenty more to offer on returning for another trip.
Maybe because last time I visited it was winter. The mood was much more cold and cosy. Whereas this time the sun was shining, everything was in bloom with flowers everywhere. Where the colours were more subtle and misted with shades of winter the summertime was an explosion of colour. The colour of flowers in the sunshine are so beautiful and possess so much life, how can I not use this for some new fabrication ideas?
A few snippets from some hazey daytime wandering the streets and markets of central Amsterdam.
A few snips from my adventure in the rainforest. The beautiful trees, the beautiful animals (especially caterpillars), the beautiful people, a beautiful place.
